So you’ve taken the Ultra training and everything.

But now, you need the proverbial kick in the pants to actually get going on converting your own courses.

Or you haven’t really updated your NET / VCM / HYB courses in a while, and you also need a proverbial kick in the pants for that.

Boy howdy, do I have good new for you.

Gabi Frahm and I will be offering our five-week Foundations of Online Teaching – Part 1 again this semester, starting on February 10. You can find it in Cornerstone. This is a fully asynchronous course.

But wait, there’s more.

Gabi and I also created a Foundations of Online Teaching – Part 2, to get into more advance topics. This is a new course that we are offering for the first time this Spring, starting on April 7. It is also an asynchronous course but it includes two Zoom sessions, on the Fridays of week 2 and 4. You can also find it in Cornerstone.

So which one should you take?

Both courses are in Ultra. This means that this is your chance to get going on your own conversion (if you haven’t yet) while also considering whether your courses need some updating.

Part 1 is good if your courses really need an update and you haven’t really looked at them in a long while. Part 1 has weekly assignments and discussions. It includes some readings on pedagogy and best practices in online teaching. Your core assignment is to develop one module for one of your classes (roughly one unit / week of work).

Part 2 is lighter on the lecturing / reading side because we will ask you to design the overall structure of an entire course + two modules. There will still be discussions for all of us to share ideas as we work on our courses.

Part 1 is not a prerequisite for Part 2. But hey, why not take both!

Also, Gabi knows her stuff and she’s really nice.

Anyhoo, sign up so I get a chance to pester more of you individually.
